Positions are listed as contract/commission/freelance, jobs (paid, full or part-time), non-paid (volunteer), or announcements (which could include contests, information about awards/grants, and other career related information); commercial offerings of art/design products or services are not posted on this Board.
Although an employer may list a position as an “internship”, OCAD does not monitor the postings of these positions and it is up to the APPLICANT (student/alumnus) to determine if the position is suitable to his/her learning objectives and career aspirations. Make sure you have a clear understanding from the employer of exactly what “internship” means. The details of how the work experience will lead to skill set enhancement and professional growth should be detailed and clearly understood. There should be a documented mentoring component built into the experience. It is not to be confused in any way with simply a non-paid, volunteer position.
Students can attempt (apply for) academic credit through the Special Studies process (Special Studies offer third- and fourth-year students the opportunity to earn credits outside of the scheduled OCAD curriculum for the Fall (D2), Winter (D3) and Summer semesters.) Subject to approval from your Faculty office.
