Internships for university communities have a specific meaning. Such work experience should include a close, detailed, and documented mentoring component. The guidance and work assignments should lead to skill set enhancement and professional growth related to the students’ career aspirations. There should be a written agreement outlining the details of the arrangement. OCAD does not have a formalized/standardized process for monitoring student participation in internships. If a student wishes to pursue an internship, it is up to him/her to make appropriate arrangements to connect the experience with his/her formal learning experience at OCAD. We discourage employers from posting positions as internships if they are simply non-paid/volunteer positions without the above learning and mentoring component. Commercial offerings of art/design products or services are not posted on this Board.
